“Everything in moderation” = “Some good and some bad”
Everything in moderation has been a mantra for most people confused by the constant contradictions in the nutrition industry, or are just too deeply ingrained in their habits to find it easy to make changes.
This way of thinking leads inevitably to some problems in moderation, or because of the nature of the bad inputs compounding on themselves, bigger problems then they would want.
We think that deep down everyone wants to feel good 100% of the time and be 100% healthy all the time, so the everything in moderation that leaves the bad in the equation has to be removed.
“If I don’t eat as soon as feel hungry I’ll pass out”
Fasting is actually really good for the body and mind and has been used for 1000s of years.
“Carbs are essential to eat in our diet for energy”
Carbohydrates are the one energy-producing food group (macronutrient) that does not need to be eaten for energy as glucose can be produced in the body through Gluconeogenisis by the building blocks of protein and fats, and are therefore not essential to consume.
“Fats make you fat”
Fats (Lipids) do not make you fat, the excess of energy through calories is what causes the body to store energy in the form of fat on the body.
“Carbs are all the same”
Carbs should actually be divided into three distinct groups, High Fiber Whole Vegetables, Grains and Starches and Fruits.
It’s the High-Fiber Whole Vegetable category that contain all the essential vitamins and minerals, and have very little sugar or excess energy.
“All that matters is in nutrition is Calories In vs Calories Out”
For losing weight the main equation is calories in vs calories out, but the entire process is governed by hormonal responses and therefore the type of food you eat is very important to the regulation of this entire process.
